IN A ROUNDABOUT WAY Bares Open Wounds in Powerful Workshop/Performance

New York, NY (March 5, 2024): A poignant and thought-provoking two-act play, IN A ROUNDABOUT WAY, written by Kim Sykes who has been awarded a Support for Artists grant from the New York State Council on the Arts, explores the complexities of forgiveness and memory during a three-day workshop reading at The TANK (312 West 36th St.) on May 23rd, 24th, and 25th at 7:00 PM.

Directed by Kim Sykes, the play delves into the tumultuous relationship between the widowed Mary Lincoln, played by Tony nominated actress, Veanne Cox and her former seamstress, Elizabeth Keckley, played by the multi-talented Lisa Arrindell. A decade after the Civil War the two women meet again, where long-held grievances resurface, exposing the deep-seated trauma they both carry. Their struggles with grief and addiction further complicates their attempt to reconcile, raising questions about the meaning of friendship and freedom. IN A ROUNDABOUT WAY offers a poignant look at the personal cost of war and the challenges of navigating complex relationships.
